Patio Coatingin Aurora, Longmont, Erie, Parker and across the Front Range
Outdoor concrete at altitude gets punished. A patio coating has to survive UV, freeze-thaw and being walked on wet.

A tired back patio does not usually need tearing out. Most of the time the slab underneath is structurally fine and what you are looking at is surface damage: spalling, hairline cracking, sun-bleached colour, a previous sealer that has gone cloudy. A coating built for exterior Colorado conditions turns that into a finished surface for a fraction of what replacement costs.
Slip resistance is not an optional extra
An outdoor coated surface gets rained on, snowed on, and splashed on. If it is smooth, it is a hazard, and a beautiful patio that puts someone down is a failed job regardless of how it looks.
Exterior coatings get texture built into them deliberately — enough grip to be safe barefoot and wet, not so much that it is unpleasant to walk on or impossible to sweep. That balance is a judgement call made on site, and it is one of the things worth asking any contractor about before you sign.
Freeze-thaw, and why outdoor prep runs deeper
Water gets into a crack, freezes overnight, expands, and makes the crack slightly bigger. Do that several times in a week — which the Front Range does regularly — and a hairline becomes something you can catch a chair leg in.
Outdoor slabs almost always need more crack and joint work than a garage does before they are ready to coat, and that repair is what determines whether the coating is still bonded in five years. Skipping it is how you end up with a patio that looks perfect in October and has lifted along every joint by spring.

Our expertise
How we approach patio coating
Exterior work gets a UV-stable polyaspartic rather than an epoxy, because epoxy left in direct sun at this altitude will amber and chalk. That is not a maintenance issue you can stay ahead of, it is the wrong material for the location.
We coat patios, walkways, porches, pool decks and driveways. Before anything goes down, the slab gets ground, the cracks and control joints get repaired and re-profiled, and the perimeter gets cut in properly so water has no edge to work under. Then the texture goes in with the broadcast, and the whole thing gets sealed.
If a slab genuinely is past saving — heaved, structurally cracked, sinking at one corner — we will say so rather than coat it. A coating follows the shape of what is underneath it, and it cannot fix a slab that is moving.
Patio Coating questions
Can you coat a patio that is already cracked?+
Usually yes. Surface cracks get repaired and re-profiled as part of the prep. What we will not do is coat over a slab that is structurally failing or moving. We will tell you if that is what you have.
How long does an outdoor coating last?+
Longer than an interior coating has any right to, provided it was UV-stable and properly bonded to begin with. The failures we get called out to fix are almost always a bonding problem or the wrong material for outdoors, not wear.
Is it slippery when wet?+
Not the way we build it. Texture is broadcast into the surface specifically so it stays grippy wet — that is a requirement on exterior work, not an upgrade.
